Ain Sokhna es una ciudad en la Gobernación de Suez, situada en la costa occidental del Golfo de Suez, en el Mar Rojo. Está situado a 55 kilómetros (34 millas) al sur de Suez y aproximadamente 120 kilómetros (75 millas) al este de El Cairo. Las recientes excavaciones arqueológicas han demostrado que había un antiguo puerto y asentamiento egipcios en esta área. El sitio fue llamado por primera vez a la atención en 1999 por el profesor Mahmud Abd El Raziq. Los arqueólogos franceses y egipcios han estado investigando esta área desde entonces. Desde el antiguo Reino, desde este puerto se organizaron expediciones marítimas en el Mar Rojo. También se encontró material similar en el Wadi Maghareh, donde se encuentran muchas inscripciones del Antiguo Reino.
